Polar Bear Plunge

The Polar Bear Plunge is a fundraising event for the Special Olympics of Kentucky.  Participants raise money and jump into the icy cold waters for fun! 

Madison County Special Olympics brought home the Polar Cup in 2006 for having the most jumpers for a civic organization.

Professional Pool Management of KY is now accepting applications for lifeguards, WSI, aquatics director, head lifeguards, lifeguard instructors, for the 2008 season.

MISCELLANEOUS
 

DISC GOLF COURSE-

Open to the Public. Located at Camp Catalpa Park.
There is no charge to play disc golf- just bring your own disc.  The course was constructed by the Richmond Disc Golf Club and was funded by the City Of Richmond Parks & Recreation Department.  Discover the beauty of Camp Catalpa by walking this 18 hole/9 fairway course.  The first hole is located at the top of the hill next to the large shelter.  Follow the signs to the other fairways.  Disc golf is a game for all ages.   Come see this beautiful park in a whole new light.

Community Events & Announcements

All A Classic-  Volunteers are needed for the upcoming All A Classic Basketball Tournament held January 30-February 3 at EKU's Mc Brayer Arena.  Over 200 Volunteers are needed to perform the following duties:  Ticket Takers, Ushers, Hospitality Rooms, Richmond Tourism Booth, and Novelty Sales.  Please contact the Tourism Department at (859)626-8474 for more information.

Murder Mystery Theater- Sponsored by the Richmond Civitan Club, this second annual performance will benefit the Accessible Playground at Lake Reba and will be performed by the Rose Barn Theatre Actors on  February 9th at the EKU Perkins Building. Pre show entertainment begins at 6:30pm with dinner at 7:00pm and the performance at 7:30pm.  Tickets are on sale now for only $55 or two for $100.
